This is Bill Monroe, the inventor of bluegrass music and the reason most people pick up a mandolin (including me). See the headstock of his Gibson Loar F-5? It’s supposed to say The Gibson, but Monroe gouged out the Gibson part when he wasn’t satisfied with repair work the company had done on his mandolin.
